Every woman is entitled to midwifery services

Your midwife is there for you right from the start: every woman is entitled to care from a midwife from the beginning of pregnancy until the end of breastfeeding. If you have questions about your child's nutrition, this entitlement to midwife care even extends to the end of the 9th month of life if you are not (or are no longer) breastfeeding, as well as to the end of the breastfeeding period - regardless of how long this lasts.

In practice, however, many women find it difficult to find a midwife. Due to the shortage of midwives, many midwives are fully booked for a long time. You should therefore start looking for a midwife at the beginning of your pregnancy.

During an initial consultation, you can get to know the midwife and discuss with her how you would like to be cared for and to what extent you would like to make use of the various services on offer. However, you should not arrange several initial appointments with different midwives. On the one hand, this will make it more difficult for other women to find a midwife. Secondly, health insurance companies will only cover the costs of an initial consultation. You would therefore have to pay for further appointments yourself.

If you have any further questions, you can call us during our office hours. We will be happy to help you!
