"Dental health right from the start"

The event will take place on 22.01.2026 from 9-12 a.m. with speakers from the regional dental service and youth dental care.

Midwives accompany young women and often their partners on the path to parenthood. They are at the side of many families from the time of pregnancy through the birth and postpartum phase and well into the first year of the child's life.

The training focuses on two key messages:

Early childhood caries/sucking bottle tooth decay is preventable.

The mother can and should take care of her own dental health.

We will cover the following topics:

- Oral health of the (expectant) mother

- Early childhood caries / teat bottle caries / ECC

- Fluorides

- Sugar & Co

The training will take place on the premises of the Hannover Region. Please register by 15.01.2026 by e-mail to the midwifery center or by telephone during office hours.

We will issue a training certificate for participation.

Online training on socio-legal pregnancy counseling on 19.02.2026 from 10-12 a.m.

When does maternity protection begin? What rights does the pregnant employee have? What benefits are she entitled to? Where do these have to be applied for?

Advice on financial benefits for pregnant women and young families is becoming an increasingly important part of pregnancy counseling. Maternity protection, parental leave, parental allowance etc. have become highly complex areas of advice. Many pregnant women and their partners have lost the overview.
This is why Alexandros Pavlidis-Nasogga from the pro familia advice center in Hanover will inform us about all the important aspects of social pregnancy counseling this morning.

The training will take place online and is free of charge. Please register by 05.02.2026 by email or during telephone consultation hours.

We will issue a training certificate for participation.

Introducing complementary foods and infant nutrition

Midwives are often confronted with a wide range of questions in their day-to-day work. One important topic is the introduction of complementary feeding and infant nutrition.

When should I start introducing complementary foods? What can my child eat then and how much? What is my child not allowed to eat yet? Classic porridge or bite-sized pieces?

These and many other questions occupy expectant and new parents. Midwives are a popular point of contact for this. Keeping an eye on current trends and official recommendations is a challenge.

In addition to questions about introducing complementary foods, the speakers also deal with infant nutrition. How do children learn to eat properly? What should I cook for toddlers? What is a child-friendly diet?

In a 3-hour event on 05.03.2026 from 9-12 am , two colleagues from the Social Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine team of the Hannover Region would like to give you an insight into the current recommendations for action of the nationwide network Gesund ins Leben, advise you on current trends and collect ideas from practice together with you.

Please register at the Midwifery Center by 24.02.2026.

Maternity care

The introduction of a professional group in the context of pregnancy, birth, postpartum and the first year of life

Maternity nurses accompany women during the sensitive time around pregnancy, birth, postpartum and the first year of life with individually tailored support in the family environment.

But what exactly is the care process like? How does the collaboration between midwife and maternity nurse make sense and can be supportive for the family? How can the care be financed? All these and other questions can be answered in the 2-hour training course on 21.05.2026 from 9.00 - 11.00 am. We have invited two of the maternity nurses working in the Hanover region as speakers. Dana Schlage-Gößl and Michelle Fricke will tell us about their everyday life and work and introduce us to the "world of maternal care".

Interested parties can register by 14.05.2026 at our midwifery center by e-mail or by phone during the specified office hours.
